How Bank and Tech Company Impersonators Use Remote Access Software

One of the most damaging scam methodologies is the deceptive refund scam. The fraudster connects to the victim computer, opens the browser, and instructs the victim to log into online banking. The scammer then blacks out the victim screen using remote software controls, edits the HTML of the webpage using developer tools to show an accidental overpayment of thousands of dollars, and pressures the victim into returning the excess funds.
